It seems like their trying to give everyone a signature. Head slap, followed by "Hello, Megan!". Superboy's growel/battle scream before hitting something. Robin's echoy laugh.

Jessie McCartney even said that "Their will be an obbsessive amount of sexual tension between Miss Martain and Superboy and Kidflash."

This is ment for viewers way older than TT.

Remember the part where KF said "So...do you know what I'm thinking?" to Miss Martain(refrencing to her telepathy). We ALL know what he was thinking about.

Okay. Caught tonight's episode.

Blah~ in the way of plot.

Yay! for the choice of characters.

Feh~ for the redesigns. (What did they do to Mammoth? Did they even look at his comic design?!)

I love how Bane was all Latino and that it was a spy mission(covert James Bond type things are wicked sick). I also loved the part where Batman says good job and the look on their faces was What The F*** and that Superboy was aroggant(in the way you would expect a clone who's only been exposed to earth life for 2months).

Overall rating:7.5 out of 10

Next weeks episode is called 'Schooled', I'll post a link to screen shots and clips later in the week.

I do wonder if Dr. Light is going to end up being a member of 'The Light.' Before he got his brain magically scrambled by Zatanna, he was a serious contender in the super villain world. Like forcibly rip Superboy's heat vision out of his face and zot Wondergirl with her lasso's own lightning serious.

Plus it'd be nice to see him redesigned with more care toward his comic incarnation, though I'm not sure these people are even looking at the comics before drawing the characters. Seriously Mammoth was green!

hahahahahaha. In TT you see some of Dr.Lights serious villain-ness but then he just chickens out. But it would be intresting if hes in the light(maybe he already is-you never know). I don't get why they change Mammoth to a orange-ish color(maybe there trying to get him not confused with the Hulk, even though hes from Marvel).

So far(in the show) Superboy only has inafred vision, but it'd be sick to see him with heat vision.

Overveiws of the new episodes:

Friday, Feb. 4: "Schooled" - Superboy's anger over his non-relationship with Superman is getting out of control. He refuses to train with Black Canary, and when The Team faces an opponent that even the Justice League had trouble defeating, the Boy of Steel goes rogue.

Friday, Feb. 11: "Infiltrator" - Artemis faces an uphill battle winning over her new teammates, as she tries to fill Red Arrow's boots on a mission he initiated: saving a brilliant young scientist from the League of Shadows.

Friday, Feb. 18: "Denial" - When The Team investigates the disappearance of Kent Nelson (formerly Doctor Fate), the scientific-minded Wally West is forced to confront his disbelief in magic while battling Abra Kadabra and Klarion the Witch Boy, for the ultra-powerful Helmet of Fate.

I want the villain that even the Justice League had trouble defeating to be Dr. Light!

But it'll probably just be one of Superman's rogues... Probably not Luthor or Brainiac, maybe Luthor though. Metallo, Parasite, or Luminous would be more likely though.

Red Arrow? Do they mean Speedy? I mean yes he gets known as Red Arrow later when he joins the Justice League but he's Arsenal between that.

Klarion the Witch Boy! I am Excited!

PS: perhaps some clarification is in order. I am upset because Mammoth is all lizard-snake-skin splittingy in the show and not a giant harry guy like he should be

Actually, you have it the other way around.

Static was a comic book character first. His book was first published starting way back in 1993.

Static Shock was a cartoon adaptation that was loosely (and I do mean loosely) based on the comic book.

Bah, still doesn't mean I have to like such a blatant Black Lightning rip of. I mean he's basically Black Lightning just without the emotional trauma.

Black Lightning

Childhood Trauma builds character!

Also intelligence. Black Lightning used his costume to disguise himself, Static uses it to look cool.

Or maybe I just hate the whole concept of how Virgil got his powers, or maybe it's the stupidity of the whole "Big Bang" thing or just the general 'Dakotaverse' that I hate. There's so much that it could be Static's just a horrible characters.

Same here. Though I still wish Conner would be alot more "fun" like he is in the comics. I also hate that he's in the same age-group as Dick. I really miss the Conner/Tim Drake dynamic.

Actually, Static is more like Magneto-lite than he is Black Lightning. And...

TheDeceiverGod wrote:Bah, still doesn't mean I have to like such a blatant Black Lightning rip of. I mean he's basically Black Lightning just without the emotional trauma.

Black Lightning

Static recieved his powers as a result of repeated bullying (to the point where his mother chewed him out and warned him not to be a "failure" like his dad), which led to gang involvment.

Aside from the death of Virgil's mother in the cartoon (he obseseses over it during the series, and there's even an episode where he tries to save her during a trip to the past), the book had numerous traumatic moments:

TheDeceiverGod wrote:Also intelligence. Black Lightning used his costume to disguise himself, Static uses it to look cool.

Static actually happens to be pretty intelligent himself.

Speaking of his costume, this is how Virgil recieved his costume's jacket:

Virgil visits a grave and tells him how he got the idea of Static. Virgil with his grandfather when they visit Stevedore J. Perkins, formally known as The Scarlet Scarab. An old movie serial hero from the past.

At school Virgil is daydreaming in English about being the Scarlet Scarab, this is also the same day that Money B beat him up in the hallway. The same day that Larry gave him the gun to kill Money B and the same day of the Big Bang. He discovered his powers and created his costume. He was out flying around when he encounters a monster called Blook, who was quoting Shakespeare. After a brief fight, Blook gives Static his yellow jacket. Virgil decided to tell Mr. Perkins about how he got inspired to by the Scarlet Scarab, however he died. The grave Static is at is Mr. Perkins.

Other than that, his costume was very makeshift and have-to-make-do.

TheDeceiverGod wrote:Or maybe I just hate the whole concept of how Virgil got his powers, or maybe it's the stupidity of the whole "Big Bang" thing or just the general 'Dakotaverse' that I hate.

It could be worse. It's probably better than radioactive spiders or getting conveniently struck by lightning in a lab accident, or becoming a sidekick because you correctly guessed someone's secret identity all due to a flp they did. Laughing

TheDeceiverGod wrote:There's so much that it could be Static's just a horrible characters.

Many seem to think other otherwise though:

I'm wondering, are you basing your opinons of the character on the cartoon? Like I said, the toon is only loosely (VERY loosely) based on the comics.

Just curious, to be better done, how would you have handled the Big Bang and the Dakotaverse?

I wouldn't have. I wouldn't have made Static. It's like asking. How would you handle Harry Potter to make him less of a Mary Sue character?

The question is pointless, the character is bad. Teen aged heroes in general are bad when not related to a veteran hero. That's why they start out as side kicks. That's why Robin is made by Batman. That's why Aqualad is from Aquaman's species.

It's just a poorly handled situation.

I guess. If I'd want to make a new hero in a new universe, I'd probably go something more like...

The mutation drug is being sold on the streets as exactly what it is, a mutation drug, though in small amounts it only gives you limited powers, thus a large number of weak criminals are committing petty crimes in order to buy themselves more of the super power giving drug. Static or our hero, happens to live in a slum building, out of which his down stairs neighbor deals drugs, with whom maybe he has a mixed relationship, morally disapproving of his dealing drugs, but at the same time understanding how this person who I would probably cast as something of a dark/future reflection of Static, something of a, 'this is what you gotta do to survive' kind of look into the future, probably three maybe four years older than Static himself, living on his own with a similar family situation to Static, Mother died, tenuous relationship with his father, maybe this guy however had a falling out with his dad a couple years back (when he was Static's age) and got throw out, thus started dealing drugs to support himself.

Anyway come the fateful day, the police, or maybe a rival gang... probably the police though, raid the apartment of the drug dealer, while Static happens to be home alone, a common occurrence as Static's father works many hours a day to support them. Then the drug dealer, who has recently moved up to dealing the super-mutating drug and has a large stockpile of it, does something stupid to avoid going to prison like... trying to stuff it down the toilet with a plunger, or burn it up on a plate or in the fire place or something. (probably not the fire place since the apartment wouldn't have one) This would of course not go over too well since it's a dangerous unstable chemical, and either from the pressure of being plunged down a toilet, or the fire from being burned up, or maybe even a stray gunshot from the dealer resisting arrest, the stuff explodes. It's a relatively contained explosion, but the building isn't that stable to being with and the floor between Virgil and the drug dealer collapses.

Virgil literally falls into his super powers as the smoke or the chemical residue or the whatever gives him his powers, while his 'friend' who happened to be the drug dealer is locked up sent to prison and hospitalized as a result of the explosion, to be brought back later as the main antagonist of the Static series, Virgil's Joker if you will, once Virgil has truly gotten his name as 'Static' by mopping up a lot of the littler super-druggies, since he has a serious heads up on them having been 'juiced' by a dealer's entire supply all at once vs powering up hit by hit. He runs into a few people who's powers rival his own, the toughest high up the rung gang leaders who have plenty of 'income' to afford large quantities of the drug, while mid levels would be people who deal/use the drug, and the lowest people who have just started on the drug, or are addicted to the power of it or maybe the chemical quality of it is actually addictive giving Static a few sweaty forehead moments when he busts in on the drug dealers, or maybe even have an arc where he's actively tracking down and busting in on the dealers to get more of the drug and amp his own powers.

But yeah, something like that.

How about that Young Justice cartoon huh? Dang good television eh?

Techinally Robin is still a tween(13) and Superboy is pyschally 16 (16-20 weeks actually) so there is a bit of a diffrence.

Damn good television. Never thought that I would watch cartoon network again(there actors suck, badly) but this teenage veiwer action show is just the mindless covert spy violence I need (with the background stories and wicked sick characters).

To be fair, Virgil is too much of a dork to be a Sue. Laughing

Then I guess this also doesn't bode well for characters like Spider-Man, Kitty Pryde, Cyborg, Starfire, Raven, the 05 X-Men, the Runaways, Invincible, etc. Wink

Besides, there's always Black Lightning for the sidekick/veteran hero connection.

This is actually pretty awesome. It'd be cool to see DC do something like this, at least as an Elseworlds tale.

Agreed. Though I'll admit, I'm still having trouble with the fact that Superboy/Miss Martian are in the the same age group as Dick/Wally.

Yeah I really wish some of the other Robins and Flashes would get something interesting to do. Dick's great and everything but I've only ever seen one show where he was actually featured as Nightwing more than once, and he never really gets much of the spotlight. I still say I want a Teen Titans remake where they actually have Dick as an on-again off-again mentor member and pay better attention to the ages of the cast.

PS; also to be fair, Starfire, Raven, and Cyborg were never actually teenagers in the original comics, or at least not for very long. Plus none of them really have terribly original origins. Alien, Demon, Robot, and the others aren't DC. The Mutant thing is pretty smart, but trying to work it in enmass is kinda blah. I mean what would happen if Iron Man met Magneto.

Oooooooh I didn't know this thread's still alive. ;O

Err yes Starfire might make an appearance. A random guy on Twitter asked them if Robin was going to have a relationship, then they said yeah of course he will, then I was like "Starfire! *runs*" and random guy was like "oh no please not Starfire" and they were like "they have a connection", so yeah.

Oh and if you're so much into the show, you can join my Young Justice fan forum - link on my signature. Heheh. [/shameless forum promotion]

Starfire would be wicked(I'd laugh histerically if she shows up in her 80's comic book outfit and the boys mouths hit the floor).

Did anyone read the show based comic? If so, can you tell me if it was good or not 'cause I going to go on friday to my comic book store and buy it.

A boom tube?!
A boom tube?!

The Light is partnered with Darkseid?! That sphere is going to be evil in someway, or maybe Krypto is going to be a Hunger Dog rather than a Kryptonian. Won't be able to fly but he'll be just as strong. We know it has to be something organic because Megan can't contact sentient machines, like Red Tornando.

But seriously, this means that people like Kalibak and DeSaad and most certainly Darkseid are going to appear, if Young Justice did the same with villains as it did with heroes I would be upset, but Young Justice does well with villains so I am enthusiastic about this.

I don't know if the sphere is evil, it seemed to like Superboy.

Darksied and Superboy, intresting fight.

The sphere's attraction to Superboy was the driving theory behind it containing Krypto, who would be a dog from the planet Apokolpis (Darkseid's planet) which are significantly stronger than Earth dogs, like everything from Apokolips compared to earth, and called Hunger Dogs.

Superboy would lose, but it would be a great bonding experience between him and Superman. I mean Superman has trouble fighting Darkseid one on one, nothing like a little father-notHisSon-smackdown.

Off Topic:
Dec, if I say...wanted to beat the crap out of Young Justice-mainly 'whomping' on Superboy and Robin, causing serious damage, but then having the Justice League come into save them-what are the Top Ten Villains you recomend for the job?

On Topic: Kyrpto! Glob, I just love that alein dog, it'd be nice to see him on the seires. I have an idea in who the female member of The Light that was talking at the end is; the Queen of Bialya.
